The district court in Montana issued a suspended sentence of 6 months with a three-year probationary period for M.K.C.

(76 years old) from Lom, who exchanged two counterfeit 50-euro banknotes to his friend, reported the Courthouse in Montana.

On October 15, 2022, M.K.C.

visited the home of R.A.I.

in Lom and showed him a large sum of Euros, claiming that he had won the money in Germany.

The guest asked his host to exchange 100 euros in BGN to buy a present for his grandson.

He agreed and withdrew BGN 200 from an ATM near his home.

M.K.C made the exchange, even though he knew that the banknotes he gave were fake.

The next day, R.A.I.

doubted whether the banknotes taken from him were real, checked them and filed a report with the police.

Before the court M.K.C.

pleaded guilty and received a sentence below the minimum for that crime.

The verdict is final and not subject to appeal.
