Russian

troops are suffering catastrophic losses in the Ugledar region of the Donetsk region, but Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin continues to publicly support the Russian Ministry of Defense and the propaganda version of an imminent and "large-scale major Russian offensive in Donbas."

This is stated in the message of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

It was recalled that Putin deliberately praised the Pacific and Northern Fleet on one of the propaganda TV channels against the background of the widely publicized and significant losses of the mechanized units of the 155th Marine Brigade during the assault on Vugledar.

Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense is traditionally silent about the losses in Vugledar, and on February 7, the Minister of Defense of the aggressor country Serhii Shoigu claimed the "successful" development of the "offensive" of the occupying forces in Vugledar.

Putin's comments, according to ISW, may also indicate an intention to intensify the attack on Vugledar with more mobilized forces or by redeploying the remaining parts of the Northern Fleet to the area.

"Putin is probably deliberately doubling down on the extremely optimistic description of the Ugledar front line given by the Russian Ministry of Defense

in order to support the version of an imminent and large-scale Russian offensive in the Donetsk region

," experts write.

However, Putin has refrained from supporting critical bloggers, who have increasingly accused the Russian Defense Ministry and military command of failing to learn from their previous mistakes in launching mechanized attacks.

Analysts believe that the use of mobilized personnel by the Russian armed forces is unlikely to create sufficient opportunities for a large-scale and rapid mechanized offensive.

"The brigade that took part in the storming of the city is 80-90% manned by mobilized personnel, as the Russian military command constantly replenishes Russian units with mobilized servicemen. They could not perform combat tasks, such as identifying and detecting minefields, or did not know what to do, encountering them during the assault. This indicates that these mobilized elements do not have the combat experience necessary to stage a successful mechanized offensive," the ISW emphasizes.

Experts also suggest that Russia may transfer additional mobilized units capable of conducting reliable defensive or offensive operations to attrition on the front line in Vugledar.

It should be noted that the losses of the Russian army exceeded 139,000 - 740 soldiers were eliminated by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation during the day.

It will be recalled that ISW previously stated that

the failure at Vugledar undermined the faith of the Russians in the ability to launch a new major offensive

.

According to a military expert, reserve colonel of the SBU Mykhailo Prytula,

the Ukrainian military eliminated a Russian strike group on the approaches to Vugledar in Donetsk region.

According to him, during the last week, the average loss of Russians amounted to more than 800 people per day - about 6 thousand people per week.
