Lieutenant General, former commander of

the US

ground forces in Europe Ben Godges emphasizes that it is impossible to liberate the annexed Crimea without high-precision long-range weapons.

Godges said this in an interview

with TSN.ua.

"If Ukraine makes it clear to the White House, the Pentagon and the West that it needs the ability to liberate Crimea this year, that means it needs long-range, high-precision weapons that can isolate Crimea and make Crimea impenetrable to Russian troops. This will not lead to heavy losses on the part of Ukraine," the lieutenant general emphasized.

According to him, high-precision long-range weapons, long-range means, "either ATACAMS, or F-16, or Gray Eagle drones, or small-diameter ground bombs" can make it impossible for the Russian fleet, aviation or army in Crimea.

Godges says that this would be the fastest way to liberate Crimea.

Such weapons, he emphasizes, would allow Ukraine to defeat penetrating Russian artillery in massive Russian infantry.

"You don't need to kill all the Russian infantry. You just need to make it impossible for the massed infantry to be supported by Russian artillery. You do this by destroying headquarters, ammunition depots and logistics. To do this, you need long-range weapons with a longer range than the GMLRS or HIMARS in service today. This and an opportunity that I would advocate for. Whatever type it is. There are different types. The ability (to make long-range shots - ed.) is the most important thing," Ben Godges is convinced.

As a reminder, The Washington Post, citing sources from the administration of US President Joe Biden, writes that the White House believes that the

turning point in Ukraine's war with the aggressor Russia will come in the spring of 2023.

Then they wait for the invaders to attack, and the Ukrainian forces will launch a counterattack.
