Armenia announced that they will hand over the peace treaty to Azerbaijan in the near future.

This was stated by the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Hryhoryan, during a briefing in the National Assembly of the country, "UNIAN" reports.

The Secretary has not yet indicated how exactly this will happen.

At the same time, according to him, there are points in the peace treaty regarding Nagorno-Karabakh.

"It is extremely important for Armenia to develop an international mechanism within which Stepanakert and Baku will discuss issues of rights and security," Hryhoryan said.

According to him, Yerevan invited the EU observation mission because the current security system is not working, and the European mission will create additional security guarantees.

It is worth noting that at the moment the Russian Federation acts as the guarantor of security in the region.

"The existing security systems do not work, Armenia has invited the EU citizen mission to create certain guarantees of its security..." - noted the secretary.

He noted that Armenia periodically presents its position and explains why it takes one or another step.

"When we say that the reason is in our experience, we note that in May and November 2021, as well as in September 2022, attacks were carried out on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, and this danger remains. To neutralize the threat, it is necessary to create certain international guarantees, which is what we are working on," the official concluded.

It will be recalled that in January several hundred protesters in Armenia came to the Russian military base near the city of Gyumri and chanted offensive slogans against the Russian Federation.

The protest took place against the backdrop of Azerbaijan blocking the Lachin Corridor, which connects Armenia with the so-called Nagorno-Karabakh.

Earlier, the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, in a conversation with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, accused the inaction of the Russian "peacekeepers" in Nagorno-Karabakh.
