For the new year 2023, 73.6% of participants in an independent Gallup International Balkan survey promised themselves that they would say "I love you" more often, 10.3% would rather not do it, and the rest hesitate in their answer.

The research was conducted "face to face" with tablets, between January 12 and 20, 2023, among 808 Bulgarian adults.

The sample is representative of the adult population of the country.

The absolute maximum error is ±3.5% at 50% shares.

1% of the entire sample equals about 54 thousand people.

The agency checked what the Bulgarians are promising themselves on the threshold of 2023, asking for the second time the questions that were asked three years ago.

On February 14, we celebrate three holidays

89.8% of Bulgarians will devote more time to their loved ones in 2023, 5.6% rather do not intend to do so, and the rest are hesitant.

Regardless of who they spend more time with, 81.8% promise themselves more smiles, and that's almost as much as three years ago, according to Gallup data.

Younger respondents are more likely to promise each other smiles and romance.

Expectations for the fulfillment of dreams are slightly more timid compared to the beginning of 2020 - on the threshold of 2023, 68.5% promise to fulfill at least one dream, while three years ago they were ready to fulfill their dreams - 73.1%.

The crisis times in our country seem to shake the confidence in the future and in oneself.

A total of 61.2% will limit, at least verbally, their harmful habits, while in 2020, 69.2% of those who participated in the survey were ready to impose self-discipline.

The restrictions, it turns out, are more inherent in people of an older age and with a higher educational status.

Regardless of whether they rank spending among their bad habits, 47.7% promise to spend less than usual.

Three years ago, however, they were a few points higher.

In a charity initiative, 51.1% say they will participate, and 56.2% say they will plant a tree.

In 2020, people in our country were much more enthusiastic about both promises - by over 10 points more.

The decrease in enthusiasm to be useful to society is probably also part of the feeling of a permanent crisis in our country, according to "Gallup".

According to the data, there is no great enthusiasm for adopting a stray animal, 29% promise this, as well as for reading a book - 44.5%.
