With more than 35 activities including book presentations, conferences and workshops, the Venezuelan nation is one of the most active entities at the XXXI Havana International Book Fair.

It proposes to the reading public titles published by the publishers that make up the Book and Reading Platform of the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture:

El perro y la rana

,

Monte Ávila

and

Ayacucho Libraries.

Similarly, it offers texts from the Simón Bolívar Study Center, the Institute for Higher Studies of Thought of Commander Hugo Chávez, the Foundation for Culture and the Arts of the Mayor's Office of Caracas (Fundarte), the William Lara National Assembly Editorial Fund and the private publishing house Hermanos Vadell.

Among the literary novelties of the Bolivarian Republic are the books

Febreros y Abriles –

a compilation of Chávez's speeches – and

Francisco de Miranda.

Precursor of the Independences of Latin America

, by Carmen Bohórquez, which makes up the Bicentennial Collection, published at the initiative of President Nicolás Maduro to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Venezuelan independence struggle.

Another of the works selected for FILH 2023 is

Operation Emmanuel

, by the Cuban diplomat Germán Sánchez Otero, with a prologue by the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz.

The text narrates the international humanitarian action, led by Hugo Chávez, between December 2007 and January 2008, for the release by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army of the child Emmanuel, his mother, Clara Rojas, and the Deputy Consuelo González.

This operation was closely followed by Fidel Castro, who considered it an opportunity for a peace process in that country.

"I proposed to Alpidio Alonso and Patricia Ariza, the Ministers of Culture of Cuba and Colombia, respectively, a film co-production to bring this episode of our history to the cinema," said the Venezuelan Minister of Culture, Ernesto Villegas, in an exclusive interview with Cubadebate

Works authored by great Venezuelan political figures were also presented at this literary event.

Among them

La piel del Lagarto

, by the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez;

The Rest of a Shadow,

a collection of poems written by the sector vice-president for Communication, Culture and Tourism and Minister of People's Power for Communication and Information, Freddy Ñáñez;

and

Bonfire of a Timeless Adolescence

, by the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab.

"As far as writers are concerned, we have the presence of Iraida Vargas Arenas -honored at the XVIII International Book Fair of Venezuela-, Gustavo Pereira, Cósimo Mandrillo, Gustavo Villapol and Carlos Sierra, among others", Villegas explained.
