More than 33,000 victims have already been killed in Turkey and neighboring Syria after the February 6 earthquakes with an epicenter in the southern Turkish district of Kahramanmaras, BTA reported, citing AP.

The Turkish government's Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) announced today that the death toll in Turkey has risen to 29,605. More than 92,600 people have been injured.

The latest available data on the victims in Syria is for 3,575 dead, DPA adds.

There are fears that thousands more victims could be found.

According to UN estimates, the death toll could reach 50,000, or even more.

Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate reported that 147,934 people have been evacuated from the region in Turkey affected by the earthquakes, Daily Sabah reported.

Vice President Fuat Oktai announced that 32,071 search and rescue teams were working in the 10 affected counties.
