Polish President Andrzej Duda explained that

F-16

fighters require very serious maintenance, so "it is not enough to simply send a few F-16 planes to Ukraine."

He told about this in an interview with the BBC.

Duda also noted that

Poland is a member of NATO and therefore any decision on the supply of fighter jets should be a joint decision.

According to him, sending fighter jets to Ukraine will create a "serious problem" for Poland itself.

If the Polish Air Force has less than 50 aircraft, "it will not be enough, and more will be needed."

F-16 fighters for Ukraine

On Wednesday, February 8, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi arrived in Britain for the first time since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion.

During his speech, the president presented the speaker of the British Parliament with the helmet of one of the best Ukrainian pilots,

calling on allies to provide modern fighter jets and create a "coalition of aircraft".

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba is confident that Ukraine will be able to receive the first squadron of combat aircraft from Western partners.

At the same time

, it will not necessarily be American F-16 fighters.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki noted that Poland supports the provision of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, but

the decision on the transfer of combat aircraft will be made by NATO

.

Currently, there are no such agreements on this matter.

The White House believes that each country, despite its membership in the NATO alliance,

has the right to make a sovereign decision whether to transfer fighter jets to Ukraine.
