Praising Rahul Gandhi's determination, Congress general secretary KC Venugopal on Saturday said that during the initial days of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, there was a delicate situation.

Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi was facing a serious knee problem.

Due to this, he was forced to think whether someone else should lead the yatra in his place.

Venugopal, a close confidant of Rahul Gandhi, said that the situation had arisen in such a way that even Priyanka Gandhi had spoken to him on this subject.

The senior Congress leader said during a function organized at the Kerala Congress headquarters in the evening to felicitate the Bharat Jodo Yatris of Kerala, "On the third day of the Bharat Jodo Yatra starting from Kanyakumari, Rahul Gandhi's knees will fall as the yatra enters Kerala." The pain had increased. One night, he called me to tell me about the severity of his knee pain and suggested that someone else lead the yatra in his place."

Describing the sequence of events that took place during the yatra's entry into Kerala on September 7, 2022, starting from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, Venugopal said that the Bharat Jodo Yatra without Rahul Gandhi was "unimaginable" for Congress workers and leaders.

The Congress general secretary said, "After this Priyanka Gandhi called and she also told about the seriousness of Rahul's knee pain.


Finally, a physiotherapist suggested by Rahul Gandhi joined his medical team and treated him, Venugopal told senior party leaders including AK Antony present at the function

The yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi, entered Kerala on 10 September, and traveled through the state for 19 days.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra ended on 30 January with a show of strength.

Rahul Gandhi completed his ambitious 145-day yatra covering nearly 4,000 km from Kanyakumari to Kashmir on January 30.
