Shashi Tharoor has made fun of the central government by tweeting.

New Delhi :

Amid floods of jokes and memes on social media, a government body yesterday withdrew its appeal to people to hug cows on Valentine's Day.

Today, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor also joined the ongoing debate on social media in this matter.

He tweeted in his funny style about 'Cow Hug Day'.

Shashi Tharoor said that what was said to be "Let them embrace their people (Guy)" could be misconstrued as "Gaay".

Shashi Tharoor tweeted, "Did the government get scared of the Cow jokes or was it just cowardice? My guess is the original appeal was in the form of a verbal instruction: "Valentine's Day: Give them their man (Guy)." Let us embrace" and the last word was misheard by the Hindi nationalist as Gaay.

Was the Government cow-ed by the jokes made at its expense or was it merely cow-ardice?

My guess is the original appeal was an oral instruction: "Valentine's Day: let them hug their guy" & the last word was misheard by a Hindi Rashtravadi as gaay!

Jairam Ramesh had tweeted about this in which he wrote, "Whose brainchild was this in the first place?"

A day after this statement, the appeal was withdrawn.
