[Instant News/Comprehensive Report] Venerable Hsing Yun, the founder of Fo Guang Shan, passed away on the 5th of this month at the age of 97.

The Buddhist Association of China recently called the Fo Guang Shan Religious Affairs Committee to express its deep condolences, and issued a statement today (10th) stating that Venerable Hsing Yun devoted his whole life to promoting Buddhism, and has traveled all over the world and is deeply loved by believers.

The Buddhist Association of China stated in a statement that the death of Venerable Master Hsing Yun has deeply saddened colleagues in the Buddhist community, and we would like to express our deepest condolences.

Master Hsing Yun is an outstanding eminent monk with worldwide reputation. He devoted his whole life to spreading the Dharma and forming good karma.

The statement stated that Venerable Hsing Yun established the Fo Guang Shan Taoist Temple, created the Fo Guang Shan model of "Humanistic Buddhism", and inherited, practiced, and developed the thought of Humanistic Buddhism in Taiwan and around the world with Chinese. It is an outstanding contribution.

Master Hsing Yun was hospitalized for several strokes before his death. His brain was atrophied and degraded, and he could not even recognize the members of the medical team. Qishou is 97 years old.
