On the Syrian side of the border, at least 3,100 were reported dead and more than 5,000 wounded in both government-held and rebel-held areas, the Associated Press reported.

According to data from the Syrian Civil Defense Service, cited by Reuters, the number of people killed in rebel-held northwestern Syria is at least 1,930.

The toll from the Turkish earthquakes is the worst in terms of human losses worldwide since the 2011 earthquake in Japan followed by a tsunami that killed 20,000 people.

At the same time, the activities of clearing the ruins and extracting the people trapped under them continue.

Earlier today, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said nearly 6,500 foreign rescuers from 56 countries were working on the ground in southern Turkey.

He pointed out that Turkey has received offers of assistance from a total of 95 countries and 16 international organizations.

Teams from another 19 countries will arrive in our country within 24 hours, Çavuşoğlu added.
