The Chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NRA) Tsanko Bachiiski called for the application of possible European sanctions against Russia in the field of nuclear energy to be approached extremely carefully.

He pointed out that such sanctions could affect both the processes of issuing licenses to extend the operation of the plant, which is planned to operate for another 30 years, and would affect the export of spent nuclear fuel.

"Sanctions in this regard can lead to a great difficulty for the work of Kozloduy NPP. As a regulator, we are closely monitoring this process and commenting with Kozloduy NPP and what opportunities there are to mitigate any such things that may happen "

There is no problem with the fuel for the Kozloduy NPP

- the plant is provided with Russian fuel until 2027 for the 6th unit, and for the 5th unit - until next April.

If American Alternative Fuel does not get a license for unit 5 in the meantime, both units may.
