Elon Musk's company SpaceX has restricted the use of the Starlink satellite Internet service by the Ukrainian military to control drones.

This was stated by the company's president, Gwynn Shotwell, Reuters reports.

Shotwell said the Starlink internet service was "never intended to be used as a weapon".

"We know that the Ukrainian military uses them (Starlink terminals - ed.) for communication, and that's normal. But we don't want them to use them for offensive purposes," she emphasized.

According to Shotwell, the use of Starlink to control drones goes beyond SpaceX's agreement with the Ukrainian government: the contract is intended for humanitarian purposes, including providing Internet access to hospitals, banks, and civilians.

"There are things we can do to limit their ability (to use Starlink with drones - ed.). There are things we can do, and we've done them," Shotwell added.

It will be recalled that the Cabinet of Ministers exempted the import of

and spare parts for generators from taxes.
