Europe and the United States will support Ukraine in its war with Russia as much as necessary, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said

Olaf Scholz is a German politician from the Social Democratic Party (GSDP).

From December 2021, and added that Ukraine belongs to the European family, reported Reuters.

"Russia should not win this war," Scholz was quoted as saying by DPA.

In Paris, in the presence of the presidents of France and Ukraine, Emmanuel Macron and Volodymyr Zelensky, Scholz said that at today's EU summit in Brussels, the leaders will give a clear signal of solidarity with Kyiv.

The Ukrainian president is also expected to attend it.

"I am taking a clear message to Brussels: Ukraine belongs to the European family," the chancellor said.

Macron: France will lead Ukraine to victory

Last year, Ukraine received the status of a candidate country for EU membership, which happened shortly after the visit of Scholz and Macron to Kyiv in June, DPA notes.

This is only Zelensky's second foreign tour since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine a year ago.

The first took him to Poland and the USA, adds BTA.
