Poland supports the provision of F-16

fighter jets

to Ukraine , but the decision on the transfer of combat aircraft will be made by NATO.

Currently, there are no such agreements on this matter.

This was announced by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in an interview with the Italian publication Corriere della Sera, published on Thursday, February 9.

"Ukraine has our full support, including long-term support. Poland has already transferred a lot of military equipment to Kyiv. As for combat aircraft, the decision is up to NATO. There are no such agreements at the moment," Moravetskyi answered a journalist's question about whether F-16 aircraft should be transferred to Ukraine.

In addition, the Polish Prime Minister noted that "delaying the supply of weapons to Ukrainians is against the interests of Europe" and "makes the Kremlin feel more confident, but not enough to attack NATO countries."

"We treat the war in Ukraine primarily as an existential threat to Poland and the whole of Europe. If Russia wins, all geopolitical analysis can be thrown into the trash. If all countries reacted as quickly and with the same determination as Poland, we would be today much closer to the victory of Ukraine", - the Polish Prime Minister.

We will remind, on Tuesday, February 7, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, expressed his conviction that the state will receive the first squadron of combat aircraft from Western partners.

But it

will not necessarily be American F-16 fighters.

On Wednesday, February 8, the adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Mykhailo Podolyak, said that

the decision-making period by partners

on the transfer of fighter jets to the state

is weeks.

On the same day, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, during an official visit to Great Britain, called on the authorities of that country to hand over the fighter jets.

After that, a representative of the British Prime Minister said that the government is considering such a possibility, but this decision

will not be made in the short term.
