[Central News Agency] People from the Democratic Progressive Party pointed out today that according to the polls within the party, the current public support for the DPP is about 30%, and it has initially stabilized. It may be related to Vice President Lai Qingde's appointment as party chairman and cabinet reshuffle. Related, it may also be the honeymoon period, and we still need to be cautious and humble to face problems from all walks of life.

People in the party said today that according to the polls within the party, in terms of the support of each political party, the Democratic Progressive Party maintained at about 30% before last year’s nine-in-one election, while the KMT’s was at 20%. The Taiwan People's Party surpassed; however, after the election, the DPP fell to a relatively low level, only about 23% and 24%.

Party insiders pointed out that with President Tsai Ing-wen convening a national security meeting, Vice President Lai Ching-teh announcing his candidacy for the chairmanship of the Democratic Progressive Party, and Premier Chen Chien-jen forming a cabinet, the situation returned to the pre-election situation last year. Whether it continues to rise on this basis, we need to continue to observe, and this may also be the honeymoon period for Lai Qingde to take over the party leader and the cabinet is reshuffled.

In addition, party insiders said that the stabilization of the party's opinion polls is related to the party's introduction of a series of down-to-earth measures, including exempting party dues for 30 years of party membership, setting up Line groups between local party headquarters and party members to strengthen communication and prevent false information, etc. These are all new measures introduced by Lai Qingde less than a month after he took office as party chairman.

In response to the by-election of the Nantou County Legislative Committee, people in the party said that from a practical perspective, the district is the current district of the KMT, and its structure is not optimistic. In addition, the turnout rate in the by-election is very low. If the turnout rate of 40% is considered high , so organization and mobilization is very important.

People in the party believe that Lin Mingqin, the KMT candidate who served as Nantou county magistrate for eight years, is stronger than the DPP candidate Cai Peihui in terms of local organizational strength. This is a tough battle; however, Cai Peihui's conditions are very good and serious , how to display her personal characteristics and professionalism is an important factor, I believe there is a chance to give it a try.

People in the party said that according to our understanding, the public’s favorability towards Cai Peihui is on the rise, while that of Lin Mingqin is declining. Moreover, Lin Mingqin’s political opinions make people question why he did not do it when he was the county magistrate for eight years, while Cai Peihui served as the county magistrate. When he was the executive director of the Central United Service Center of the Executive Yuan, he did many things for Nantou.
