[Reporter Lai Xiaotong/New Taipei Report] In response to the personal information leakage incident of iRent, which affected about 400,000 users, the Highway Administration of the Ministry of Communications today determined that the operator violated the provisions of the Personal Data Protection Act and imposed penalties; in addition, the New Taipei City Transportation Bureau determined that If iRent fails to fulfill its responsibilities for maintenance and management negligence, it will impose a fine of up to 90,000 yuan on the operator in accordance with the "Regulations on the Self-Management of the Shared Transportation Industry in New Taipei City."

Wu Zhengyan, Chief of the Comprehensive Planning Section of the Transportation Bureau, said that the Transportation Bureau was informed of the incident on January 31, and immediately notified it the next morning and sent a letter to iRent for clarification. The Bureau of Transportation stated that if users suffer from loss of rights or consumer disputes due to personal data leakage, they can provide relevant evidence and materials.
