Military analyst, Colonel Petro Chernyk does not rule out that the Russian occupiers may step up and the Russian Federation counterattack in Luhansk region or Kharkiv region.

He stated this in an interview with TSN.ua.

Chernyk reminded that the enemy's counteroffensive actions have been ongoing since November.

After the Russians removed a powerful group from the right-bank Kherson region, it was concentrated on the eastern front.

Since that time, the enemy has been putting operational pressure on our positions both in the Vugledar area and in the Siversko-Bakhmut arc.

Can the Russian Federation counterattack in Luhansk region or Kharkiv region?

"Of course, they can dare to take such a step," the expert believes.

For this, do the Russians have full cover with armored vehicles, artillery and aviation?

"No, not in full. But the logic of the battles at Bakhmut indicates that the enemy resorted to their classic, historical practice of using huge infantry shafts. And they can throw a large number of their personnel into the battle in any direction." - said Chernyk.

Why are they resorting to this type of hostilities and why are they pressing now

According to the expert, Putin's elites and the dictator himself are very well aware that in the coming months the Ukrainian army will be completely rearmed on a Western model.

"And this will be a serious parity that can create conditions for a turning point in the war. That is why they believe that they now have a 'window of opportunity,'" the analyst concluded.

Earlier, military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko assessed the forces of the occupiers in the Zaporozhye region and commented on the threat of an offensive.

It will be recalled that the President's Office announced that the new offensive of the Russian Federation, which everyone expected, has already begun.
