In particular, in a video published on the social network, the French president presents his Ukrainian colleague Volodymyr Zelensky with the Order of the Legion of Honor.

The heads of state touchingly embrace and hold hands.

"She fights for peace and carries the values of our European Union: Ukraine will never be alone. To victory, to peace, to Europe," Macron added in other messages on social networks.

Note that the Order of the Legion of Honor is the highest award in France, awarded by the president of the republic for military or civilian merit.

The Legion was founded on May 19, 1802. Napoleon Bonaparte's decree of July 14, 1804 "On awards to members of the Legion of Honor" established the order of the Legion.

The motto of the order is Honneur et patrie ("Honor and Fatherland").

Since all royal awards were abolished after the French Revolution, it was decided to start a new order to reward both military and civilian citizens.

The idea of the award was borrowed from the Roman legion, where all members had certain titles — legionnaire, officer, commander — and all together resembled a knightly order.

We will remind that earlier

Also in France, the Ukrainian leader emphasized that we all have little time left, so the

president insists that France and Germany have used the potential of game changers

In addition,

Zelensky was optimistic about communicating with President Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz

.

"I believe that today we will strengthen our unity!" - declared the head of the Ukrainian nation.
