A new 5.3-magnitude earthquake was recorded today in Kahramanmaras County, southern Turkey, by the Kandilli Seismological Observatory in Istanbul.

According to the information published by the observatory, the earthquake occurred at 10:48 a.m. (9:48 a.m. Bulgarian time), and its epicenter was in the area of ​​the city of Göksun, Kahramanmarash district.

The earthquake was at a depth of 5 km below the earth's surface.

It is the next stronger tremor in a series of earthquakes in the area since Monday, when at 4.17am, southern Turkey was rocked by a 7.7-magnitude quake with an epicenter in the city of Pazardzuk, Kahramanmaras County.

Nine hours later, a second strong earthquake was recorded, again in Kahramanmaras district, with a magnitude of 7.5-7.6.
