Over BGN 420 million will be invested this year for the development and implementation of innovations in Bulgarian companies.

Both micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as companies with up to 499 employees, will be able to benefit from the funds.

Partnerships with large companies will also be allowed.

This became clear from the annual framework of the Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises Program (CIPIP), which was adopted today by the Monitoring Committee.

The managing body of the Program is the General Directorate "European Funds for Competitiveness" at the Ministry of Innovation and Growth, the press center of the Ministry of Innovation and Growth announced.

The first procedure under the new Competitiveness Program is expected to be announced next month.

It will support the development activity and the development of innovations.

Its budget will be BGN 127 million. Companies from various economic sectors will be able to apply, and their projects must be in one of the five thematic areas of the Innovation Strategy for Intelligent Specialization - "Informatics and ICT", "Mechatronics and Microelectronics", "Healthy living industry, bioeconomy and biotechnologies", "New technologies in the creative and leisure industries" and "Clean technologies, circular and low carbon economy".

This will also apply to the application under the second procedure under the Program - for the implementation of innovations.

In the last months of 2023, another measure will be opened by the PCIP.

With BGN 117.5 million, the production capacity of family businesses and companies from the creative industries and crafts will be improved.

They will be able to purchase modern machinery, equipment and software so that they can start producing more and better quality products and become more competitive in the market.
