Eric Green, head of the US National Security Council for Russia and Central Asia, has left his post.

APA reports with reference to "Bloomberg" agency that the reason for this is his retirement.

As head of the department, Greene was actually the White House's chief Russia specialist.

He was one of the main organizers of the meeting between Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Geneva in 2021.

There is no information about who will be appointed in his place.
