American analysts of the Institute for the Study of War believe that the military command of the aggressor Russia is setting unrealistic deadlines and is in a hurry to launch an offensive to capture the Donetsk region.
The occupying army does not have sufficient combat power.
This is stated in a recent ISW review.
By the way, in their assessments, American analysts rely on the conclusions of British intelligence officers, who note that probably Moscow tried to start the next operation to enter the administrative borders of Donetsk region from the beginning of January 2023.
However, the enemy was able to gain only a few hundred meters of territory per week.
Experts emphasize that the slow pace of the enemy is explained by the lack of ammunition.
In addition, the occupiers lack maneuverable units, which are necessary for a successful and rapid offensive.
That is why experts are sure that the Russian Federation is unlikely to build up the combat power necessary to have a significant impact on the outcome of the war.
In turn, the military command continues to demand an unrealistic and large-scale promotion.
"The Russian leadership is once again planning a decisive offensive based on false assumptions about its military capabilities and does not have the combat power necessary to support more than one major offensive operation," the Institute emphasized.
Analysts observed how the Russian Federation signaled preparations for an offensive in early 2023.
However, they concluded that time and space could prevent a rapid and large-scale Russian advance.
In addition, spring is approaching, which is unsuitable for maneuver warfare.
It will be recalled that British intelligence officers emphasize that the
Russians will not be able to make significant progress in the offensive
in Donetsk region in the coming weeks due to a lack of ammunition and qualified units.
It is noted that the Russian Federation is trying to resume major offensive operations in Ukraine from the beginning of January 2023.
