The eight Romanian citizens, five students and three teachers, who were trapped in a hotel in the city of Cahramanmaras after the devastating earthquake in Turkey, have successfully returned to the country, Romania's Ministry of Defense announced.

They were transported to their homeland by a Spartan plane sent yesterday on a mission to Turkey with Romanian rescuers.

Two Polish citizens were also taken on board the same plane to Romania.

Depending on the development of the situation, the Romanian Air Force will be able to bring into the country other citizens who request evacuation from the area affected by the devastating earthquake in Turkey.
