On February 7, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev accepted the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Namibia to our country Clemens Khanduukeme Kashuupulva.

APA reports that Ambassador Clemens Khanduukeme Kashuupulva presented his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.

President Ilham Aliyev had a conversation with the ambassador.

The head of state said that there are opportunities for intensifying relations between Namibia and Azerbaijan in various fields.

The President of Azerbaijan noted that in accordance with our relations in the political sphere, the possibilities of expanding our cooperation in economic, commercial and other spheres should be considered.

President Ilham Aliyev recalled with pleasure the participation of the head of state of Namibia in the Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Azerbaijan in 2019.

He also pointed out that Namibia's support to Azerbaijan as the chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement is highly appreciated.

The head of state emphasized that it is Azerbaijan's initiative to review the mechanism of rotating representation of the Non-Aligned Movement as a permanent member of the Security Council within the framework of the reform process in the UN Security Council.

In this regard, he stated the importance of conducting consultations among the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement, noting that such an approach would be fairer.

President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that as a member of the Non-Aligned Movement of Azerbaijan, he is working towards the establishment of this organization.

He said that next month, Azerbaijan will host the Summit within the framework of the Contact Group of the Non-Aligned Movement.

The ambassador conveyed the greetings of Namibian President Hage Gottfried Geingob to the head of our state.

He noted that the Namibian head of state remembers with pleasure his visit to Azerbaijan during the 2019 Summit.

The head of state expressed his gratitude for the greetings and asked to convey his greetings to the President of Namibia.

Saying that he was pleased to present his credentials to the President of Azerbaijan, the ambassador emphasized that he will continue his efforts for the further development of cooperation, friendship and mutual support between our countries.

Clemens Khanduukeme Kashuupulwa, in turn, pointed out that there are good opportunities for expanding economic-commercial relations, cooperation in the fields of mining industry and education.

During the conversation, the bilateral relations between our countries were touched upon, the importance of cooperation in the field of education was emphasized, and it was noted that students from Namibia study in Azerbaijan within the framework of educational scholarships allocated to the citizens of the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement of Azerbaijan.
