group known as Cold River attacked three nuclear research laboratories in the United States.

Reuters writes about this with reference to analyzed Internet records and data of five cyber security experts.

Between August and September, when President Vladimir Putin said Russia would be ready to use nuclear weapons to defend its territory, Cold River attacked the Brookhaven (BNL), Argonne (ANL) and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories (LLNL), according to Internet records that showed hackers created fake login pages for each institution and sent emails to nuclear scientists trying to get them to reveal their passwords.

The publication could not find out why these laboratories were chosen as a target and whether the attempt was successful.

Russian hackers Cold River have stepped up their campaign against Kyiv's allies since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, according to cybersecurity researchers and Western government officials.

Reuters writes that the hacking attack took place as international experts entered Russian-controlled territory of Ukraine to inspect Europe's largest nuclear power plant, the ZAEP, and assess the risk of what both sides say could be a devastating radiation disaster amid heavy shelling nearby. .
