According to Polish Defense Minister

Mariusz Blaszczak

, Poland has moved its Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to the west of Warsaw to the military airport in the Bemów district.

They will stay there for a certain time as part of the Polish military exercises of the 3rd Warsaw Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade.

The American MIM-104 Patriot anti-aircraft missile system arrived in Warsaw on the afternoon of February 5.

The MIM-104 was developed as an anti-aircraft and anti-missile defense system.

It is designed to combat manned and unmanned aerial vehicles, including airplanes and helicopters, as well as missiles.

The Polish government signed a contract for the delivery of two Patriot systems with more than 200 missiles in 2018.

The first arrived in the country at the end of 2022, and the second is expected to arrive at the end of this year, according to Wnp.pl.

By acquiring Patriot systems, Poland, along with the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, Japan and Italy, became the sixth country that now relies on the American production system.

Polish soldiers are now being trained to operate the Patriot, which should be ready for use in 2024.

At the end of January, Germany sent to Poland the first two of three Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems that will be deployed near the Ukrainian border as a response to the incident with the fall of a missile in the area of Przewodow.
