In an interview with TSN.ua, Deputy Commander of the "Freedom" Battalion, National Guard Lieutenant Volodymyr Nazarenko told how close the situation in Bakhmut is to an operational environment.

"In 2015, I had to be in the Debaltsiv encirclement. Of course, there were heavy losses, but the enemy suffered much greater losses. And we, having held the defense, broke through the encirclement and got out," said the serviceman.

According to him, the current situation in Bakhmut is far from an operational environment.

"The General Staff has set the task of maintaining control over the Bakhmut-Konstiantynivka and Bakhmut-Slovyansk routes. This task is being carried out and the enemy's advance in these directions has been stopped at the moment. But these are not the only roads (to Bakhmut. - Ed.). There are several other routes ", Nazarenko notes.

The fighter assures that the Defense Forces are still able to supply the army, evacuate the wounded or bring humanitarian aid to Bakhmut.

"The only problem is that the enemy uses its long-range artillery, salvo systems, and airstrikes to conduct chaotic, very massive fire on the city itself and its surroundings. The enemy is trying to tie up our rear by launching rocket and artillery strikes on the outskirts of Konstantinovka and on other settlements on the demarcation line , but it is so ill-targeted that it does not pose a threat to combat capability. Unfortunately, there are civilian casualties. Such tactics of the enemy lead to the fact that ordinary Ukrainians suffer," concluded the deputy commander of the Svoboda battalion.
