For the needs of energy security, Hungary is ready to provide Serbia with up to 500 million cubic meters of gas from storage before the next heating season, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said today in Belgrade, Tanjug reported.
After a conversation with Serbia's Minister of Mining Industry and Energy Dubravka Jedovic, Szijjártó said that in 2022, 4.8 billion cubic meters of gas would arrive from Serbia to Hungary via the "Balkan Stream".
He pointed out that this is a joint result achieved in partnership and assessed that Serbia is a trusted, honest and correct gas supplier to Hungary.
Hungary has threatened to veto if the EU decides to introduce "nuclear" sanctions against Russia
According to Sijarto, the EU sanctions are causing serious damage to the countries, and the energy sanctions are in conflict with the security of energy supplies.
He said that Hungary has received an exemption from sanctions on oil and gas, so it can import them and have secured supplies, BTA notes.
