More than 1,400 emergency personnel from more than two dozen NATO allies and partners, including Finland and Sweden, are traveling to Turkey to help with the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that hit the country on February 6.

More than 53,000 personnel of Turkey are in emergency situations.

APA reports that the press service of NATO released information about this.

It was reported that NATO allies and partners have sent various assistance teams to Turkey, including search and rescue teams with rescue dogs, firefighters and structural engineering teams, medical personnel, necessary supplies and seismic experts.

"At this terrible time, we stand in solidarity with our ally Turkey and all those affected, and NATO allies stand ready to provide additional assistance to those in need," NATO spokeswoman Oana Lungescu said.

Support is provided through the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Center (EADRCC), the Alliance's civil emergency response mechanism in NATO's Euro-Atlantic area.

The press service also said that starting today, the flags of all 30 allies of the military alliance, as well as the NATO flag, will be lowered to half-mast in memory of the victims of the natural disaster and in solidarity with Turkey.
