In Odesa, in Podilsk, a 38-year-old resident of the city was arrested on suspicion of murdering her mother.

She told the police that when she returned home, she found her old mother, with whom she lived, without signs of life.

However, when establishing the circumstances of the incident, the police found out that there were frequent conflicts in the family.

The woman is currently in custody.

This is stated in the message of the main office of the National Police in the Odesa region.

According to the offender, the old woman was annoying with her presence, so she tried to poison her, then strangle her and finally broke her head.

The perpetrator faces up to 15 years in prison.

Talking about her mother, the daughter was nervous, the police immediately suspected her of involvement in the old woman's death.

"Finally, the woman confessed: lately, the closest person had annoyed her with her behavior, so she decided to poison her by dissolving a large number of pills in her food. When the old woman fell asleep, the perpetrator, in order to complete her plan, began to strangle her with a towel. The mother, waking up, became to resist her daughter, and she beat her on the head with a poker," the law enforcement officers said.

Having made sure that the victim did not show signs of life, the offender closed the house and went for a walk in the city, and after a few hours she returned and called the police.

According to the preliminary conclusion of the forensic medical expert, the death of the 67-year-old woman occurred as a result of a craniocerebral injury.

Currently, the woman has been informed of the suspicion of intentionally causing the death of another person, which is provided for in part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Within the framework of the initiated proceedings, the law enforcement officers appointed a number of examinations, including a forensic psychiatric examination, which should establish the sanity of the suspect.

During the investigation, the woman was remanded in custody. 

According to the sanction of the article, intentional murder is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 7-15 years.
