On February 6, 2023, the Republic of Azerbaijan shows solidarity with brother Turkey in order to eliminate the consequences of the devastating earthquake that occurred in the Kahramanmaras province of the Republic of Turkey and surrounding provinces.

According to the information given to APA by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in order to support the search and rescue operations carried out in the earthquake region, according to the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, a 420-member rescue team of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) along with relevant equipment and search dogs left for Turkey on February 6. has been established and is already operational.

In addition, in order to eliminate the consequences of the earthquake, a mobile field hospital equipped with necessary medical equipment and supplies and a 41-person team of MFN, including 34 medical and 7 non-medical personnel, have already left for Turkey.

According to the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, a group of military medical personnel of Azerbaijan Army including 10 military doctors and 8 nurses are in the brotherly country today.

In order to identify and evacuate the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan affected by the earthquake, Operational Headquarters are working in the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Turkey, in the Consulates General in the cities of Istanbul and Kars.

According to the citizen appeals and the information received on the 24-hour hotlines, which are answered by the employees, in the provinces of Turkey that were destroyed by the earthquake (Kahramanmaras, Hatay, Adana, Malatya, Gaziantep, Adiyaman, Şanlıurfa, Kilis, Osmaniye, Diyarbakır, Elazığ and Mersin) Azerbaijani citizens residing or temporarily staying here are listed.

Citizens who wish to be evacuated to Azerbaijan will be accommodated on buses reserved for this purpose.

Negotiations are underway with Turkish government agencies to remove these restrictions so that restrictions related to adverse weather conditions do not hinder the evacuation process.

Documentation work for our citizens whose documents were lost or rendered useless during the earthquake is carried out in a simplified manner by our Embassy and Consulate General in Turkey.

Evacuation buses will be sent to Azerbaijan from the bus stations of Kahramanmaras, Malatya, Gaziantep and Adana provinces of Turkey starting at 15:00 today.

In the first stage, students studying in Turkey and people in need of emergency assistance will be evacuated.

At present, a group of employees of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Turkey and the Military Attaché under the Embassy have been sent to the regions affected by the earthquake in order to ensure the implementation of the evacuation process by land.
