[Reporter Wang Shuxiu/Tainan Report] A 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit the border between southern Turkey and northern Syria at 4:17 a.m. local time on the 6th, severely damaging the two countries. Aftershocks are still ongoing.

Tainan Mayor Huang Weizhe also expressed his concern through Facebook, saying that Tainan stands with Turkey and Syria.

Huang Weizhe posted on Facebook on the 6th that during the trip, I heard that a 7.8-magnitude earthquake occurred in Turkey, which caused serious damage to Turkey and neighboring Syria, which made me very sad.

Taiwan also experienced the September 21, 2011 earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3, and it empathizes with the people of Turkey and Syria.

I have asked the fire department and other relevant units to be prepared. If Turkey and other countries need it, Tainan will set off as soon as possible to provide full assistance; we will not be absent in the post-disaster reconstruction.

May the dead rest in peace and the wounded recover soon.
