The face of a rescued Syrian child has gone around the world.

This is 18-month-old Ragad, emerging unscathed from the rubble after the devastating earthquake.

And the long hug with her savior says more than any words.

“The ceiling fell directly on them - the father and the little girl, one and a half years old.

They are in relatively stable condition.

The father fears that he has a broken spine.

But his daughter Ragad is fine," said Abu Hassam, uncle of 18-month-old Ragad.

However, this cannot be called a story with a happy ending.

Ragad's uncle says that under the ruins, Ragad's pregnant mother, her brother and sister - at the age of 4 and 5 - remain forever.

The earthquake in Turkey and Syria 109

Millions spent a sleepless night in both Syria and Turkey.

Some have lost their loved ones, others their homes, and still others for fear that the night may once again shake the earth and they will not be lucky enough to wake up again.

Authorities in Ankara announced that 13.5 million people were directly affected by the devastating tremors.

100,000 square kilometers are affected.

Thousands of rescuers from 65 countries around the world - Mexico, USA, Israel, Korea, India - responded to help the two countries.

Footage emerged of Istanbul airport overflowing with volunteers eager to head east to the affected areas.

Even a day after the deadly tremors, every minute counts to save lives from the rubble.

Beyond the numbers, however, the tragedy is above all with a human face.

Beneath the rubble of destroyed homes, the trapped struggle for air.

The cries for salvation are mingled with the cries of those who are powerless to help.

Turkey continues to rock: New earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7

"We hear people from under the ruins, crying for help, asking to be saved.

But we cannot save them.

How can we get them out?

No one has come here since the morning," said a witness, reports Nova TV.

Thousands spent the night outdoors, in shelters or in their cars, fearing the horror could happen again.

Or because they have nowhere else to go.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations announced that 8,000 people were rescued from the rubble in one day.

The battle for the lives of the remaining buried continues.

Rescuers search for cracks in the debris to sustain life with bottles of water.

In Syria, the morning revealed the scale of the disaster.

"We evacuated the people from the dangerous buildings.

They started to gather in the places of temporary shelter", explained Mohamed Hiyazi, chairman of the municipal council in Aleppo.
