The District Prosecutor's Office (RP) in Pleven is conducting an investigation into migrant trafficking.

It started after four men were detained in the Pleven region illegally transporting 13 Afghans, according to a statement from the prosecutor's office.

The men were arrested in a joint operation with officers of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (OD of the Ministry of the Interior).

In the course of the investigation, evidence was gathered that M.M.

(29), K.K.

(30 years old), Yu.L.

(21 years) and D.D.

(27 years old), in complicity with each other, helped 13 citizens of Afghanistan to cross the territory of Bulgaria in violation of the law, aiming to obtain a property benefit.

For this purpose, three cars with Bulgarian registration were used, added the prosecutor's office.

The four were brought in as defendants and detained by prosecutor's decree for a period of up to 72 hours.

The prosecutor's office submitted a request for permanent detention to the Pleven District Court. 

By order of the court, one of the defendants was placed in custody, another was placed under house arrest, and the remaining two were released on cash bail.

The determined measures of indifference are subject to appeal and protest.

Today, the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office prosecuted a Romanian citizen who illegally assisted foreigners to cross our country from the border with Turkey to Sofia.

In another case on February 3, 39 undocumented foreigners were found near the Montana village of Asparuhovo, transported by bus.

The driver was arrested, as was the driver of the pilot car traveling with the bus.
