On February 6, 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, had a telephone conversation with the Minister of State for the European Region of Great Britain, Leo Dockerty.

According to the information given to APA by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the telephone conversation, the parties discussed the current issues of the Azerbaijan-Great Britain bilateral agenda, the latest situation in the region and the prospects of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed his satisfaction with the bilateral relations between our countries and noted the importance of official contacts and visits.

The minister informed the other party about the latest situation around the Lachin road.

It was pointed out that the protests against the illegal economic activity and the misuse of the Lachin road are the legitimate right of the Azerbaijani people, that there is no basis for the claims regarding the blockade and the humanitarian situation, that humanitarian goods are being transported and about 2,000 cars have used the road so far.

The other party was informed about Armenia's failure to comply with its obligations, as well as the obstacles and series of provocations it created to the normalization process in the post-conflict period, and its boycott of the last Moscow meeting on the peace agreement.

It was emphasized that Azerbaijan is interested in the normalization process as a state that advances the peace agenda and carries out reconstruction works in the region.

State Minister Leo Dockerty, in turn, strongly condemned the armed attack against the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran and expressed his condolences.

He said that it is important to eliminate the difficulties that prevent peace in the region and to resume negotiations.

Later, the parties exchanged views on bilateral and multilateral issues.
