We are facing icy days with heavy snowfall in some areas.

Temperatures will drop sharply on Monday.

In places in the northwestern and northern regions, they may reach minus 12 - minus 15 degrees.

A yellow code has been declared for almost the entire country because of the low temperatures.

In the Sliven area, the code is even orange because of the expected strong gusts of wind.

This was stated by weather forecaster Alexandrina Yankova on the air of "Bulgaria morning".

According to her, the temperatures will drop further on Tuesday.

"It will be very cold in the western and northern regions. In Pleven and Knezha, the morning temperatures are expected to reach minus 16 - minus 17 degrees. The maximum will be around zero," she explained and added that there are no conditions for fog.

Yankova noted that Lom is the absolute record holder for accumulated snow cover with its 29 cm. On the higher parts of the mountain, the cover is 50-60 cm.

"We can expect an improvement in the weather on Friday, when the temperatures will start to rise. The maximum will be between 8 and 12 degrees," she predicted to Bulgaria ON AIR.

Our southern neighbors will also be frozen by snow and cold.

There will be intense snowfall in the northwestern part of Turkey and in the southern part of Greece.

In Romania, temperatures will drop to minus 22 degrees.

The long-term forecasts indicate that towards the middle of the month the weather will calm down - there will be scattered clouds and the presence of more sunny hours.

At the end of February, cooling will be felt again, which may also cover the beginning of March.
