Azerbaijan has a huge potential to create a strong renewable energy sector.

"APA-Economics" informs that BP regional president for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Gary Jones said during the presentation of the first university textbook in Azerbaijan called "Introduction to the use of renewable energy resources".

"One of the main goals of the country, and indeed of BP and our partners, is to support the acceleration of the world's transition to cleaner energy.

Azerbaijan has a huge potential to create a strong renewable energy sector.

This includes "green" hydrogen, solar and wind energy resources," said Gary Jones.

According to his words, in order to make the transition process efficient and manage the country's "green" economy in the future, it is necessary to train highly qualified and competent personnel, including engineers specialized in the field of renewable energy sources.

It should be noted that today BP announced its partners in the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Shah Deniz and South Caucasus Pipeline projects - "SOCAR", "TPAO", "LUKOIL", "NICO", "MOL", " Equinor", "SGC", "INPEX", "ExxonMobil", "ITOCHU", "TotalEnergies", "Eni", "ONGCVidesh" presented the first university textbook that will lay the foundation for the training of local engineers in the field of renewable energy sources.

The aim of the project is to support the efforts of the Baku Higher Oil School (HOS) to train a new generation of engineers specializing in renewable energy sources.

These specialists will advance the plans to accelerate the energy transition by strengthening the renewable energy sector of Azerbaijan.

In addition to the new 220-page textbook, the scope of the project also includes the creation of a new training course specifically designed for undergraduate students.

The total cost of the project is 96,000 AZN ($56,470), which includes the development and publication of the textbook as well as the development of a new training course.

The project was implemented by BHOS.
