, in one of the hostels, the police detained an intruder who fraudulently took over 3.5 million hryvnias.   

This was reported by the press service of the Rivne region police.

As it became known, on February 3, a 28-year-old resident of Odesa region visited a resident of the village of Kolodenko and received

from the pensioner .

Before that, the woman received a call allegedly from the hospital that her daughter urgently needed money for an operation.

Investigators reported suspicion of fraud committed on a particularly large scale or by an organized group under Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The court granted the request of the investigator and chose him as a preventive measure in the form of detention.  

66,500 US dollars, 16,200 euros and 200,000 hryvnias were found and seized from the perpetrator.

He had already spent part of the stolen money.

The man faces from 5 to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Law enforcement officers are checking him for involvement in committing other criminal offenses, as well as other persons allegedly involved in the criminal scheme.
