According to the latest data, 1,500 are already the victims in Turkey from the strong earthquake.

Shortly after 4 a.m., the first earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 struck southeastern Turkey.

"The earthquake was very strong, very scary.

We heard sounds from everywhere.

It took nearly two minutes before it stopped shaking," said Ihsan, a resident of Diyarbakır.

10 towns in southeastern Turkey were already in ruins when a second strong earthquake struck the same region at noon.

Dramatic footage from Anadolu Agency shows chaos and people running in panic as blocks collapse around them.

The second earthquake had a magnitude of 7.5.

The epicenter is Elbistan, which is not far from the first devastating earthquake. 

These are some of the strongest earthquakes in Southeast Turkey in the last 100 years. 

The situation is serious in 10 cities, including Diyarbekir, Adana, Gaziantep.

The schools there are closed for a week.

The infrastructure of ports and airports was damaged. 

Despite the cold and aftershocks, volunteers and rescue teams continue to search for survivors under the ruins.

All state resources have been mobilized.

"The number of buildings that have been found to have collapsed is 2,818. We do not know how much the number of dead and injured will rise as work continues to remove debris from many buildings in the earthquake zone," said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Erdogan.

Turkey has declared a state of emergency, and 45 countries have pledged aid to deal with the disaster. 

The sight in neighboring Syria is apocalyptic.

Buildings were destroyed in three northern provinces - Aleppo, Lakatiya and Hama.

Many of the affected areas there are under rebel control and difficult to access.

Rescuers managed to pull out a child buried under debris in the town of Azaz.
