Rescuers searched for survivors among collapsed buildings in northern Syria after an earthquake devastated them.

[Instant News/Comprehensive Report] A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale occurred in Turkey at 1:17 a.m. local time on Monday (6th) (9:17 a.m. Taiwan time today). The depth of the earthquake was only 17.9 kilometers, which is a shallow strong earthquake. Turkey and Syria felt the strong shock, as did neighboring countries Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Armonia, and Georgia. Turkey and Syria were severely hit. At least a hundred people died in the two countries, and the death toll may continue to rise.
According to comprehensive foreign media reports, observation data from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) showed that the epicenter of the 7.8-magnitude earthquake was located in the town of Nurdağı in Gaziantep Province, Turkey, near the border between Turkey and Syria. The depth of the earthquake was 17.9 kilometers, and the Mercalli Intensity (MMI) near the epicentre was as high as 8 or above. In northern Syria, the magnitude also reached 6. Eleven minutes after the 7.8-scale earthquake, another 6.7-scale aftershock occurred.

Turkey and Syria were severely hit. Syrian official media said that a large number of buildings collapsed in the northern province of Aleppo, killing at least 42 people. There were also many disasters in the five provinces of Turkey. Nearly a hundred buildings collapsed, killing at least 53 people. People were trapped in the collapsed building. Turkey announced the "National Level 4 Alert" and dispatched personnel to the disaster area for rescue, calling for international assistance.
