Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak announced on Sunday, February 5, the relocation of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to the military airport west of Warsaw, where they will remain.

He explained the strengthening of anti-aircraft defense near the Polish capital by the need to train fighters of the 3rd Warsaw Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade.

The minister supplemented his message on Twitter with photos illustrating the transportation of the launcher.

According to Polish mass media, military equipment has already arrived in the capital.

"Polish Patriot launchers are moving from Sohaczew to the Warsaw Bemowo airport, where they will be deployed. This is an important element of the training of the soldiers of the 3rd Warsaw Missile Brigade," wrote the head of the Polish Ministry of Defense. 

The Patriot surface-to-air anti-aircraft missile complex is designed to counter aviation, tactical ballistic missiles and cruise missiles.

In addition to Patriot systems, which were sent by Germany in January, the Polish army has its own batteries of American-made air defense systems.

According to the news website TVP.info, Poland has two Patriot battalions of its own and is additionally protected by Patriot units from its NATO allies.

As you know, Germany and the USA are preparing to supply Ukraine with batteries to protect its cities and infrastructure from frequent Russian missile attacks.

We will remind, on Tuesday, January 31, a group of 70 Ukrainian soldiers arrived in Germany to learn how to work with the systems that Berlin will provide to Kyiv.

In December, Washington also promised to send Patriot systems to Ukraine as part of its new $1.85 billion military aid package.
