Due to a large-scale accident at the substation, half a million residents of Odesa district and Odesa are without power.

The situation is extremely serious, the Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko and the head of "Ukrenergo" Volodymyr Kudrytskyi are coming to the city.

This was announced by the head of Odesa OVA Maksym Marchenko.

The official noted that he had a conversation with the Prime Minister of Ukraine and the leadership of the President's Office regarding the liquidation of the consequences of the accident. 

"At our request, the Minister of Energy and the head of Ukrenergo were urgently dispatched to Odesa. Together with them, I have already held an urgent meeting of the operational headquarters to eliminate the accident and supply electricity to consumers. All services and facilities are involved.

is still too early to predict the quality of the repair.

Heat supply, drainage and water supply are working normally," his post reads.

According to Marchenko, the first generators will arrive in the city on the evening of February 4. 

At the request of the military administration and with the assistance of the state leadership, a certain number of generators, which are available not only at the Ministry of Energy, but also at the State Emergency Service, will be delivered to Odesa during the day and will be used to connect critical infrastructure.

We are expecting the first generators already this evening.

Odesa is without electricity due to an accident at a substation

The reason is that the second large-scale accident occurred at the substation in the last day.

Due to the lack of light, trams and trolleybuses stopped running.

And 

emergency shutdowns were introduced in Odesa. 

Due to the lack of electricity in Odesa, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal convened an extraordinary meeting of the government to discuss the situation in the city.

He instructed to bring to Odesa all the powerful generators available at the Ministry of Energy within a day.

According to him, the 

situation is difficult, it is impossible to quickly restore power supply, in particular to critical infrastructure.
