"Relations between our two peoples do not imply such draconian measures as we are witnessing. In fact, security must be limited by something important, and that is that everyone who wants to come can honor Gotse Delchev," said the interior minister after the pilgrimage.

He expressed regret that a number of Bulgarian citizens were prevented from this happening.

"The mutual respect that we declare to the people of the Republic of North Macedonia (RSM) and that I received assurances from Minister Oliver Spasovski that we will receive, presupposes exactly this - to give everyone the opportunity to come and worship before the memory of the apostle", our interior minister also said.

Minister Demerdzhiev also commented on the problems of the work of the RSM border posts, explaining that Minister Spasovski claimed that it was an electric shock.

"In order to avoid such problems in the future, I ordered the immediate preparation of three generators, which will be donated on Monday to the three common border crossings. Unfortunately, I found out that the problems continued even after the manual processing of the documents. Such behavior is unacceptable. It does not corresponds to the attitudes and moods of our two peoples, who do not have a shadow of negative attitude and there is no reason for such provocations. The problem was only in one direction - entering the RSM, and that made an unpleasant impression. This is not the way forward to a united Europe , it implies stability and mutual trust. Politicians of both countries have a duty to build that trust and respect,

"The attempts to divide us are provocations, we are neighbors and our peoples traditionally respect each other. Bulgaria is a country that strictly respects the legal order," the interior minister said categorically.

"I suggested to Minister Spasovski that we present flowers together, as I think that this is the right way and the memory of an apostle like Gotse Delchev deserves it. I was refused, but I hope that this will happen at the next celebration," added Demerdzhiev.
