In Ukraine, the time of power outages will be reduced when the European Union starts exporting 2 GW

of electricity,

which was announced by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen the other day.

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada committee on energy and housing and communal services Andriy Gerus told

about this on the

air of the national telethon.

So, according to him, this week during peak hours, the electricity deficit amounted to slightly more than 4 thousand MW.

The European Union has agreed to increase the volume of electricity supply to 2 GW, while previously there was a limit of no more than 700 MW.

"All consumers will feel it (the beginning of imports - ed.). If the average generation in the country is about 13,000 megawatts, then when this import goes completely, it will be 15,000 megawatts. The difference is quite significant. All consumers can feel it by the rate of outages. There should be fewer outages. The time periods of outages should be reduced," Gerus explained.

During the press conference following the results of the Ukraine-EU summit, the President of the European Commission,

Ursula von der Leyen

, said that Ukraine will receive 2 GW of electricity from EU member states.

She also added that the supply of 5,400 electric generators to Ukraine has been agreed so far.

Blackout in Ukraine

Ukraine's energy system has already suffered 13 missile and 15 drone attacks from Russia.

As of February 4, the situation has improved -

production at thermal power plants has slightly increased.

Currently

, the largest share of disconnected consumers

due to a shortage of generating capacity and network restrictions is in the Volyn, Odesa and Chernivtsi regions.

Odesa and part of the Odesa district remain without power due to an accident at one of the substations.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, instructed to

bring to Odesa within a day all powerful generators

that are available at the Ministry of Energy, and a gas turbine power plant with a capacity of 25 MW.
