Oleksiy Rubchenkov, a 46-year-old Russian military contractor from Yaroslavl, was killed during the war in Ukraine.

Previously, the man sang in the church choir and raised seven children, but then voluntarily went to serve under a contract and went to war.

The death of the Russian occupier was reported by local media with reference to the government of the Yaroslavl region. 

"On January 9, a shooter, senior sergeant Oleksiy Rubchenkov, died in Ukraine. It is known that Oleksiy voluntarily signed a contract to take part in hostilities. His friends are writing farewell letters on social networks," the published information says.

At the same time, the Russian priest John the Orthodox wrote on the VKontakte social network about "sad news in the parish."

The statement says that the singer, father of seven children, parish reader gave his life "for faith and homeland while participating in the SVO".

As military expert Oleg Zhdanov reported, a very high level of support for the war against Ukraine remains among the population in Russia, despite heavy losses at the front.

The expert noted that nothing will change as long as propaganda works in the Russian Federation and President Vladimir Putin is in power.
