Tomorrow, February 5, in the Orthodox calendar

, is the day of memory of St. Clement and his disciple Agafangel

.

Saint Clement lived in the 4th century and was raised by his mother in Christian traditions from an early age.

In those days, there was a severe famine in Galatia, and the pagans began to abandon their children to their own devices.

Clement took them to his home, taught them a righteous life.

For this, he was later elected a reader and even ordained a deacon, and later - a presbyter.

He successfully converted many idolaters to the true path.

Then King Diocletian began to persecute Christians.

Yes, he called Saint Clement to him and convinced him to renounce the Christian faith.

The saint did not agree.

Therefore, he was tortured for a long time, but the wounds on Kliment's body healed.

They imprisoned him then and left him for several days.

All those who were baptized and believed in God were sent to that prison.

Later, Diocletian even sent Clement to Emperor Maximian so that he could see the miracle with his own eyes - the wounds did not remain on the saint's body.

Clement and his student Agafangel were subjected to the most terrible tortures before the emperor.

However, the executioners could not do anything.

Not knowing what to do with the believers, Maximian ordered their heads to be cut off.

Agafangel was killed first.

And Clement then turned to the people and said that soon all Christians would be killed.

Then he was killed.

The church holiday of February 5 is the day of memory of St. Agatha

She was born in 235 on the island of Sicily in the city of Catania.

That is why in church texts she is often called Agatha of Catania.

Her family was wealthy and noble.

In her youth, the girl was very beautiful, so she had many suitors.

However, Agatha dreamed of only one way - to serve the Lord.

Once she refused even Senator Quintian.

He got so angry that he hated the beauty.

When the brutal persecution of Christians began, Agatha was captured.

She was subjected to brutal torture precisely because of her refusal to marry a senator.

Her chest was cut off and then she was killed.

A girl died in 261 at the age of 25.
