[Reporter Luo Xinzhen/Pingtung Report] The "Lighting Rabbit" small lantern launched by the Pingtung County Government during the Lantern Festival this year unexpectedly became popular. In response to public demand, the second wave of collections will be opened on the 2nd of this month. There was a long queue, and the county government stated that the small lanterns will be distributed until tomorrow (5th), and there will be no more increase. A total of more than 40,000 lanterns have been issued.

Pingtung County Government 2023 Pingtung Lantern Festival launched a free redemption event of "Glowing Rabbit Lantern". Anyone who joins the designated LINE official account or Facebook account can redeem it. During the period, there were constant praise and high inquiries. After the first wave of redemption is completed , The county government employees still continue to receive inquiries from all parties. In order to allow more folks to collect them, the county government will increase the number before the Lantern Festival, and will distribute them in limited quantities at designated locations from February 2.

After several days of redemption, tomorrow (February 5) Lantern Festival will be the last day of distribution. At 9:00 a.m. in Shengli Star Village-General’s House, there will be a limited number of 400 copies; at 6:00 p.m. The service desk next to the pit in the park distributes lanterns, limited to 700 copies.

The Ping county government stated that due to the popularity of small lanterns, the county government team urgently placed an order to increase the number of lanterns before the Lunar New Year. Unexpectedly, the major factories were full of orders before the year and could not pack and ship. Overtime, one by one hand-packed, hoping to meet the needs of the people; however, after the collection ends tomorrow (5th), it is determined that no more increase will be made. Since January 13, a total of more than 40,000 have been sent out.
