The LED bulbs are a donation from the European Union to help Ukraine fight the energy crisis caused by the Russian bombings.

For several months now, Russia has been systematically attacking Ukraine's energy infrastructure, with the aim of depriving Ukrainians of electricity and heating in the winter.

These attacks led to mass blackouts in Ukraine, and for this reason, the European Union announced in December that it was providing 30 million euros to buy 30 million LED light bulbs for Ukraine.

"The program to replace old light bulbs with energy-saving LED bulbs started this week," Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said on Twitter.

Ukrainians will receive millions of LED bulbs to reduce energy shortages

Over 750,000 light bulbs were replaced in three days, and over six million LED light bulbs will be delivered next week to various Ukrainian regions.

In addition, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced that the EU will finance the supply to Ukraine of a total of 35 million LED bulbs - five million more than originally promised, notes BTA.
